What a full-time hire costs

A full-time CFO or controller carries salary, payroll burden, bonus, often equity, a recruiting fee, and months of ramp-up. Our calculator adds it up with your numbers and compares it to the tier that fits your company.

Cleanup and reset engagements

Accounting cleanup and the finance department reset are scoped as projects with a start, an end, and a fixed price set after the diagnostic. They usually hand off to a fractional engagement, but they do not require one.

FAQ

Questions about pricing

Why publish prices at all?

Because it saves everyone a meeting. Owners who see the starting points can decide in a minute whether the conversation is worth having. The starting points are real, and most engagements land within a reasonable distance of them once scope is known.

What moves the price above the starting point?

Company size, transaction volume, number of entities, the condition of the books when we arrive, urgency, the cadence you need, and the stakeholders we report to. A three-entity contractor with a surety, a bank, and a messy WIP schedule is more work than a single-entity service company with clean books.

What is not included?

Legal, tax, audit, software subscriptions, travel, one-time cleanup projects, and unusually compressed deadlines are separate unless the engagement letter expressly includes them. We say so in writing before we start.

Is there a contract or a minimum?

An initial 90-day period, then month to month with 30 days' notice on either side. Interim engagements have a defined duration and step-down. There are no annual contracts and no early-termination fees.

Do you charge hourly?

No. Hourly billing rewards slow work. We price by deliverables and cadence so the incentive is to get the close done, the forecast right, and the decision made.

Can we start with the controller tier and add CFO later?

Yes, and many clients do. The controller tier fixes the past; the CFO tier decides the future. When the books are trustworthy the CFO work goes faster, so starting with the controller is often the economical sequence.
